Winco GP-1 Garlic Press, Self-Cleaning

Great Press - and sturdy
I have tried a bunch of presses but this one is my favorite. I can put 3-4 cloves in at a time, and it does a great job. The garlic doesn't come up around the sides of the press and the skin is left in the press for cleaning. The others I have used are either too small, too flimsy, or the press doesn't fit well into the hole allowing the garlic to work its way around the pressing foot. This one on the other hand, has very small gaps between the pressing foot and the housing thus forcing the garlic through the holes where it is supposed to go. My only gripe is that is aluminum, and therefore doesn't look as nice as a stainless steel version. But, I would buy this one again in a heart beat.

First thought: Wow! what a nice garlic press
Let's be real about this: there's really not much to a garlic press. I almost feel like it's on par with rating toothpicks. However, my last 3 garlic presses were garbage. The most recent was hard to clean and flimsy and had a part that tended to get lost. 2nd most recent let too much garlic ooze around the press (there was about 1/16" gap all around). And the one before, the pin holding it together just wanted to drop out right from the start.

This press, however, is top-notch. There is no lateral give in the press motion. There is a good tight fit between the press and the frame. And to my great satisfaction, when you reverse it to clean the holes, you can reach in and feel the pins come out the other side by roughly 1/32". It all feels sturdy, and all for what I thought was a reasonable price.

Best Garlic Press ever!
This is a great garlic press. It presses the entire clove of garlic and leaves very little behind. And the self-cleaning feature is ingenious! Makes it so easy to clean. I have had a plastic garlic press in the past that didn't work, only crushed part of the clove and left a lot behind, and had a little tool that was supposed to help with cleaning it but didn't work. This one is a winner!
